“The disaster in Dharali village happened because bulldozers were used on places of worship belonging to other religions!”

Statement by Samajwadi Party MP S.T. Hasan on floods in Uttarakhand

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – Dharali village in Uttarkashi district was completely buried under floodwaters and mud, resulting in multiple deaths. Amid this tragedy, Samajwadi Party MP S.T. Hasan made a controversial statement. He said that this was an extremely heartbreaking incident and that attention should be paid to why such disasters occur. In Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, according to him, there is no respect for religions other than Hinduism. “No bulldozers should be used on any place of worship. Someone else runs this world, and when His justice comes, no human can save themselves,” he remarked.

After criticism arose over his comments, Hasan offered a clarification, saying his statement had been misrepresented. “Bulldozers should not be run over places of prayer. If needed, the place should be vacated. At such times, divine grace is lost, and disasters do not stop. We have sympathy for those who have died, but those in power must understand that whether it is a temple, mosque, gurdwara, or church, none should be disrespected. My statement has been taken in a different sense,” he said.

Editorial Perspectives

  • A Samajwadi Party MP who speaks simply because he can ! Why does Hasan never mention the real causes of the crises in the Middle East, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and other Islamic nations ? In these countries, even during namaz, Muslim terrorists frequently target mosques — acts that have fuelled these crises and driven Pakistan to the point of begging. Why does Hasan remain silent about this ?
  • Why does he not acknowledge that the building of illegal religious structures and the deliberate erection of graves in various places as part of land jihad are also major causes of these crises ?
