Beijing (China) – Shi Yongxin, the chief abbot of China’s famous Shaolin Temple, has been removed from his position following serious allegations of embezzling temple property and funds, maintaining immoral relations with multiple women, and fathering several illegitimate children. Multiple government agencies are jointly investigating these allegations.

The Buddhist Association of China has revoked his certification, stating that Shi Yongxin’s actions have caused severe damage to the image of the Buddhist community and monks.
