Proposal submitted to the Center

Mumbai – There has been a demand for changing the name of the village Islampur in Sangli district to Ishwarpur for many years. The State Government has approved the renaming as Ishwarpur. The proposal for this name has been submitted to the Union Government. If the Union Government approves the renaming as Ishwarpur, the name of Islampur will be changed to Ishwarpur, informed Food and Drug Supply Minister Chhagan Bhujbal in the Legislative Assembly on 18th July. He said that since this subject comes under the jurisdiction of the Union Government, this proposal has been submitted to the Union Government with a recommendation. After getting approval from the Center, the name will be changed to Ishwarpur.
