India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar appeals to the world

Brussels (Belgium) – “The world must understand that terrorism is not just the problem of one country or region; it is a global threat that will sooner or later affect everyone,” said India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar while addressing the media here.
‘Operation Sindoor’ is India’s action against terrorism, not a bilateral issue
Referring to India’s response after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Dr Jaishankar urged Western countries not to view ‘Operation Sindoor’ merely as an India-Pakistan border issue, but as a counter-terrorism operation. “When terrorism is the core issue, international media often portrays India’s action as an act of revenge — this is a serious distortion,” he criticised.

Pakistan shielded Osama bin Laden
Jaishankar further stated, “It is difficult to trust a country that harboured a terrorist like Osama bin Laden for years inside a military zone.”
Western countries must reflect on their past positions
In an interview with the European news agency Euractiv, Jaishankar remarked that after India’s independence, when Pakistan waged wars against India, many Western nations stood by Pakistan. “Today, those speaking about international norms must first introspect about their own historical positions.”
Europe must stop looking towards America for direction
“The world is becoming multipolar. Europe too must start taking its own decisions. It should not simply look to America or other powers for guidance,” Jaishankar asserted.
India is not a party to the Russia-Ukraine war
Speaking on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar stated that India does not believe in resolving disputes through war. “Differences should be addressed through dialogue, not weapons. India is not part of this war. No one has the right to dictate what India should or should not do.”
Editorial PerspectiveThe world remains indifferent to terrorism in India. They care only for their own interests. Hence, instead of endlessly explaining terrorism to the world, India must focus solely on destroying Pakistan — the source of terrorism within our borders. |
