Protests by government officials, employees, teachers, opposition political parties and military

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Protests against Bangladesh interim government chief have intensified across the country. There is increasing resentment for various reasons among the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) an opposition party, Government officials, teachers and Military. Dhaka Metropolitan Police have imposed indefinite ban on rallies and public meetings in the wake of growing protest. Along with this the residence of Yunus and Bangladesh secretariat premises have been sealed.
1.Mohammad Yunus has been trying to simplify the process of government employees’ dismissal at the Dhaka secretariat. The employees are protesting this ordinance.
2.On the other front, the opposition party BNP has asked Yunus to fix the deadline for general elections. The Chief of Army Staff, Waqar-Uz-Zaman has advised to hold the elections by December 2025. Despite that, Yunus has indicated that the elections would be held in April 2026.
3.Along with the government employees, thousands of primary school teachers have also called for an indefinite strike to press for pay hike and several other demands.
