Union Home Minister gives Rajya Prerana Geet (a song to inspire the State) award for ‘Anaadi mi Anant mi’, a song written by Freedom Fighter Savarkar

Mumbai – Commencing from this year, Rajya Prerna Geet Award will be given on behalf of Cultural Department in the name of great warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, also a poet at heart, has been given to the song ‘Anaadi mi Anant mi’, written by freedom fighter Savarkar. The award ceremony took place at Varsha Niwas on 27thMay. This award given to Dadar Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak, has been received by the grandson and granddaughter of freedom fighter Savarkar, Ranjeet and Asilata Savarkar from the union Home Minister. The award carries a cheque of Rs 2 lakh and a momento.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Cultural Affairs Minister Advocate Ashish Shelar, Marketing and Protocol Minister Jaikumar Rawal, MLA Sanjay Upadhyay, Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge and treasurer of the Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Smarak Mrs Manjiri Marathe, Secretary Rajendra Varadkar, Assistant Secretary Swapnil Savarkar, short-term Trustee Avinash Dharmadhikari were present.

1. This award will be given to the songs depicting patriotism, valour and cultural pride which reinforce the inspiration from the life of Sambhaji Maharaj. The cultural department has introduced this novel idea to honour the creative expression of devotion for the nation filled with radiant struggle.

2. This honour conferred upon this immortal song written by freedom fighter Savarkar is revival of Maharashtra’s inspirational history.

3. In line with Maharashtra Bhushan Award and other awards to honour someone, this award will be given to honour an inspirational song on behalf of Maharashtra State Cultural Affairs Department. The inaugural event has selected the song written by Veer Savarkar.
