Mumbai will be free of loudspeakers within a month : Kirit Somaiya, leader, BJP

Some areas in Mumbai are 100% loudspeaker-free !

Mumbai – BJP leader Kirit Somaiya resolutely said that for the first time in history Mumbai would be loudspeaker-free within a month. He was speaking at a press conference held here on May 24.

He said…

1. The Fadnavis Government in Mumbai appealed that the unauthorised loudspeakers on the mosques be removed. The Bombay High Court too gave an order in this regard.

2. Kirti Somaiya had visited 51 police stations, 41 in Mumbai and 10 in Maharashtra in the last two months. He had inspected the loudspeakers on more than 300 mosques.

3. The work of removing the loudspeakers from 80% of the mosques in Mumbai has started. Mulund, Bhandup, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Chunabhatti and the Vidyavihar to Mulund area have become 100% loudspeaker-free. It was permissible to install 15-inch by 10-inch ‘box speakers’ (container-shaped speakers) on mosques, but loudspeakers on mosques were illegal.

4. Some police officers were creating obstacles and cooking stories to put a spanner in the work of making Maharashtra loudspeaker-free, but if any police officer was acting arbitrarily by putting the Bombay High Court, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the people of Mumbai on the spot by allowing loudspeakers to be installed on mosques, action would be taken against them.

5. The Bangladeshi birth certificate scam is exposed in Maharashtra. The Devendra Fadnavis Government has started an investigation into 2.24 lakh applications. He had complained to the Home Ministry of the Government of India. Now their committee has come to 10 cities in Maharashtra for investigation. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sillod, Malegaon, Amravati, Akola etc. are among them.
