Union Home Ministry’s directive to state governments regarding infiltrators
New Delhi – The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has adopted a stricter stance against Bangladeshi and Myanmar infiltrators. To identify these infiltrators and verify their documents, the Ministry has given states and union territories a 30-day deadline starting from 18 May. The Ministry has instructed that all states must exercise their legal powers to identify infiltrators and, upon verification, initiate the deportation process. Additionally, each State has been directed to establish sufficient detention centres at the District level, where suspected illegal immigrants will be held until the deportation process is completed. To prevent any future fraud by these individuals, their biometric data (such as fingerprints) will also be collected at these centres. Security forces like the Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Rifles have also been involved in the process to monitor illegal infiltration at the borders.

The Ministry’s directive states that the documents of those suspected of being infiltrators must be verified within 30 days. If any person claims to be an Indian citizen, then it is the responsibility of the respective State Government to verify their identity and background.
