The work of removing encroachments started at a rapid pace at 6 a.m. on May 20th. It is estimated that this bulldozer operation will continue for about 3-4 days. The number of Bangladeshis living illegally in this area is so large that this place is called ‘Mini Bangladesh’.

1. The second phase of demolition of illegal settlements started from May 20th . 3,000 Police personnel have been deployed for security during the demolition process. Also, 60 JCB and 40 cranes are being used. In the first phase, 1.5 lakh square metre of land was freed from encroachment. In the second phase, the target has been set to free 2.5 lakh square metre of land from encroachment. Under this, 8,000 illegal houses can be demolished.
2. In the year 2025, 250 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from Ahmedabad, out of which 207 were from Chandola area alone. Every year, about 10 to 40 Bangladeshi infiltrators are arrested from Chandola.
3. Although many supporters of these illegal infiltrators had approached the High Court to demand a stay on bulldozer action, the High Court refused to do so.
