Pastor Jashan Gill

Gurdaspur (Punjab) – Pastor Jashan Gill has been accused of raping a 22-year-old girl. Gill is a resident of Gurdaspur. According to the deceased victim’s father, Jashan Gill lured and misled his daughter, raped her, and forced her to undergo an abortion. Due to an infection, she died during treatment. A few days ago, the Mohali court sentenced another Christian Priest, Bajinder Singh, to life imprisonment in a separate rape case involving a woman.

According to the deceased girl’s father, their family used to attend a church in Abul Khair village of Gurdaspur district. Pastor Jashan Gill was associated with that church. He misled their daughter and raped her multiple times. At the time, the girl was 22 years old. As a result of the repeated assaults, she became pregnant. When Gill came to know about the pregnancy, he arranged for an abortion to be done by a nurse named Kulwant Kaur in the village of Khokhar. The nurse performed the abortion negligently, leading to an infection that caused the young woman’s death.

Victim’s father alleges that police are avoiding action against the pastor in exchange for money!

According to the father, despite the truth coming to light, Gurdaspur police have not arrested Pastor Jashan Gill. He is roaming freely, and police are allegedly taking money from him. The incident occurred in 2023, but no action has been taken against him in the last two years. Instead, the victim’s family began receiving threats and had to flee their village.

The deceased girl’s family has demanded a CBI inquiry into the case. A petition has also been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Although a case has been registered against Pastor Gill, he has not been arrested. According to the police, he is currently absconding.

Editorial Perspective

What was once being done by Pastors abroad is now happening in India too. Will there be films made about this in India ? Or will they still be shown as civilized and cultured individuals ?
