Death Sentence to Rapist of 5-Year-Old Girl in Madhya Pradesh

Mother and Sister of the Accused Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Aiding Him

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – In a case of the rape of a 5-year-old girl in Shahjahanabad, Bhopal, on September 24, 2024, the court has sentenced the convicted Atul Nihar to death. Additionally, he has been sentenced to life imprisonment in 3 cases and 7 years of imprisonment in 2 other cases. Atul’s mother and sister have also been sentenced to 2 years in prison for aiding him in the crime. They were accused of destroying evidence and trying to save Atul.

This is the first such decision made in Madhya Pradesh under the new ‘Indian Justice Code Laws’. The court stated that this case falls into the rarest of rare categories. If we cannot create a society where children feel safe, it is difficult to imagine a civilized society. If there were a punishment greater than the death penalty, the accused would have received it. Atul attacked the girl’s private parts with a knife and, when she resisted, he attacked other parts of her body as well. Atul had also planned to dispose of the body in a calculated manner. Atul was cruel and merciless.
