Hindus to Take Out a Huge March to District Collector’s Office Demanding Addition to the Name of ‘Shivaji University’

Kolhapur, 14thMarch – The name of the university at Kolhapur i.e. ‘Shivaji University’ is incomplete and it should be made more respectable by adding the full name as ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University’, demanded devout Hindu organisations. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti (HRSS) have jointly planned this huge march on 17.03.2025 to be taken to the District Collector’s office. Different elected representatives, MLAs, MPs, ministers from Kolhapur; along with various pro-Hindu organisations, organisations working for preservation of forts, sects, youth committees, organisations revering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, etc., have extended support to this march. More than 200 Gram-panchayats from Kolhapur district have passed resolutions for this purpose. The march will start on 17.03.2025 from Dasara Chowk at 3.00 p.m. and will pass through areas like Lakshmipuri, Venus Corner, ‘B News’ office; concluding at the District Collector’s office. The dignitaries participating in the march will address the people. Mr Sunil Ghanwat, national coordinator of HJS has appealed to people to join this march in large numbers, during a press conference held on 14.03.2025.

Some of the dignitaries joining the press conference are Mr Abhijit Patil, the joint- coordinator of ‘Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh’; Mr Pramod Patil, the founder of ‘Chhatrapati Group’; Mr Gajanan Todkar, city-president of ‘Hindu Ekta Andolan’; Mr Anandrao Kashid , the descendant of Veer Shiva Kashid; Mr Raju Toraskar, the district- president of ‘Hindu Mahasabha’; Mr Raju Yadav, Karveer Taluka-chief of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Group; Mr Arun Gawali of ‘Swami Samarth Pratishthan’; Mr Sanjay Hasabe of ‘Shri Swami Samarth Mahalakshmi Mandir’; Mr Uday Bhosale, Dy district-chief of Shiv Sena; Dr Mansingh Shinde of Sanatan Sanstha, and Mr Shivanand Swami of HJS, etc. Mr Abhijit Patil informed that many eminent personalities including Mr T Raja Singh, a devout Hindu MLA from Telangana, H. H. Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji, the founder of ‘Shri Shiva-Pratishthan Hindustan’, and Sanatan Sanstha’s ‘Dharmapracharak’ Sadguru Swati Khadye will be participating the march.

Mr Anandrao Kashid stated that different organisations of fort- lovers, committees associated with outdoor games, their members, history researchers have extended support to this march. This march will also be attended by the descendants of ‘Mawlas’ who were a part of the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Mr Gajanan Todkar, the city-president of ‘Hindu Ekata Andolan’ added that Chhatrapati Udayan Raje Bhosale and Shrimant Shivendraraje Bhosale, the descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj have supported the march. ‘Chhava Group’s Pramod Patil stated that there has been extensive publicity of the march and everyone from the society has been supporting the demand. Members of the Chamber of Commerce, different institutes, youth committees and students have assured to join this march.

Support of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce

The Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce is supporting the march as informed by its president Lalit Gandhi. He too has asserted that the university should be given the full name as ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University’ and has appealed to all to keep their shops closed for two hours to join the march.

Shree Sampradaya has also supported this march as Mr Vijaykumar Patil informed about hundreds of its devotees and followers from Satara, Sangli, Belgaum along with Kolhapur will be joining the march. The march has support of ‘Shri Shiva-Pratishthan Hindustan’ as informed by Mr Suresh Yadav, its Kolhapur district-executive and its ‘Dharakaris’ will be attending the march in large numbers.

Highlights

The march will be attended by the descendants of Sardar-mawlas who were a part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army.

Many squads will be joining this march such as ‘Dhol-Tasha Pathak’, outdoor games teams, war-squad depicting the period of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, ‘Warakari-Taalkari’, devotees from various sects, participants planning to join in traditional clothes like ‘Mawlas’. ‘Ranaragini’ squad of women will also join this march.
