Elon Musk threatens to shut down Ukraine’s internet services

Washington DC (United States) – Chief of DOGE (U.S Department of Government Efficiency) and Tesla and Starlink CEO Elon Musk has reportedly threatened to cut off Ukraine’s internet services. Musk stated that if the Starlink system in Ukraine is shut down, the country’s defence infrastructure could collapse. The Starlink internet system has been crucial in maintaining military communications for Ukraine.

1. Musk tweeted on X: “The Starlink system is the backbone of Ukraine’s military. I’m deeply frustrated by the ongoing war and loss of lives.”

2. Starlink operates a global network of satellites in low-Earth orbit, providing space-based internet services to multiple countries.

3. Earlier, the US halted military aid worth ₹8,700 crore to Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not yet responded to this decision. A White House official stated that this move was taken due to Zelenskyy’s inappropriate behaviour. The official further mentioned that if Zelenskyy attempts to negotiate an end to the war, this ban might be reconsidered.
