Raisen (Madhya Pradesh) – Hindus in Raisen dist. MP, are harassed by wilful act of Waqf Board. The Waqf Board has claimed that the land of Makhani village, where Hindus are in majority, belongs to Waqf. Not only that, the Shivalinga in the village is also declared as their property. Waqf Board has sent a notice to the villagers that the land where they are living, is the property of Waqf Board and the villagers must vacate the land immediately.
1. Waqf Board claims the land is their kabrastan (graveyard). However, they have not produced any documents for the same.
2. Houses of the villagers, farms, chauthara (raised structure), even Shivalinga has been declared as Waqf property.
3. Surprisingly, despite the government record, where the land is shown as government property, Waqf Board makes a blatant claim.
4. Waqf Board claims that the land belonged to a person named Kader Khan. He had donated this land. The villagers say that no one named Kader Khan ever lived in that village. Those Hindus who have been living in the village for generations are determined not to give up their land and fight against Waqf Board. People are extremely angry because the claim is on their houses and also Shivalinga, the symbol of Hindus’ faith.
Editorial PerspectiveIn future, it may not be a surprise, if Waqf Board claims entire land of India, and says that it has been donated by Aurangzeb. The proverb, ‘a bold face makes a good liar’ suits Waqf Board aptly. It is in the best interest of India to disband Waqf Board. |
