Kabul (Afghanistan) – The Taliban-led interim government has made it clear that the military equipment would not be returned. Taliban has defied, “if Donald Trump has guts, he may come to Kabul to take back the arms”.

1. The US arms worth Rs 61,000 crore had been left behind in Afghanistan. Donald Trump commented that the arms must be returned. Reacting to the comment by Trump the Taliban Chief has threatened him.

2. In the year 2021, when Taliban had departed for Kabul, the US troops left Afghanistan leaving behind the arms. Now, when Donald Trump has demanded these arms from Afghanistan, Afghans are enraged.

3. Taliban Chief Quari Fasiuddin Fitrat has issued a threat while reacting to Trump’s comment, “if you dare, come to Afghanistan and take back your weapons”

4. Before this, Afghanistan spokesperson, Jabihullah Mujahid had also reacted to Trump in the same manner. He said, “the weapons now belong to Afghanistan, since we have won them in the war, they are our property.”

5. According to the US Department of Defence report, an estimated $ 7 billion (Rs 61,000 crore) of military equipment had to be left behind in Afghanistan when the US troops withdrew. During a 17-year period, between 2005 to 2021, the US had supplied weapons worth $18.6 billion (Rs. 1.62 lakh crore) for Afghanistan’s defence.

6. On 29thFebruary 2020, Doha agreement was made between the US and Afghanistan. According to this agreement the US forces had withdrawn from Afghanistan in August 2021.
