A Step Ahead of India ?

Fox News recently conducted an interview with President Donald Trump and the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk. In this discussion, Musk emphasised the importance of technology and the effective execution of presidential decisions. He remarked that, during Trump’s first term, decisions were not implemented effectively. As a result, the people who elected their leader democratically, felt that their expectations were not met. This raised the question, who actually runs America, bureaucracy or democracy ?

Musk stated that in this term they were working to strengthen democracy with the aid of technology and efforts towards efficient execution. His statement holds significant implications. Trump’s party is considered right-leaning, often associated with nationalism and conservative views. Consequently, communists, woke activists, and proponents of the ‘deep state’ have strongly opposed them. In the US presidential election held four months ago, a staggering 92% of voters in Washington, D.C. supported the deep state’s preferred candidate, Kamala Harris. This clearly indicates that the American administrative system is unfavourable towards Trump.

During Trump’s first term, bureaucratic officials created obstacles in executing his decisions. Trump recognised this issue early on, leading him to seek an efficient, capable, and patriotic leader. He found such a leader in Elon Musk. Under Musk’s guidance, a team of sharp-minded, nation-conscious individuals was assembled, resulting in the establishment of DOGE.

In his second term, Trump appears determined to bring about direct and powerful changes to America’s policies. Moreover, the newly formed DOGE ensures that administrative mechanisms execute these decisions effectively. In short, Musk has become Trump’s ‘trump card’ within the American administration. One of Trump’s significant decisions was to halt unnecessary global expenditure through USAID—a move driven by Musk’s strategic insight. Although the new administration is only one month old, its early decisions have set the stage for correcting decades of mistakes.

A New Era for India !

It is important to examine these developments from India’s perspective. Prime Minister Modi came to power over ten years ago and swiftly implemented long-pending decisions. Be it granting justice to retired Indian military personnel through the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ scheme, simplifying taxation via the Goods and Services Tax (GST), or tackling black money with demonetisation—each move was a milestone event. Various initiatives, such as the ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’ for financial inclusion and the electrification of every village in India, have directly addressed common citizens’ problems. These efforts deserve recognition.

During his second term, Modi abolished Article 370 and introduced the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 to grant citizenship to Hindu refugees fleeing persecution in neighbouring Muslim-majority nations. Successfully managing the COVID-19 crisis, strengthening foreign policy, and achieving economic growth further reflect Modi’s remarkable leadership. After more than six decades of Congress-led governance, India’s decline needed urgent correction, and Modi’s government has made significant strides in this direction. This marks the beginning of a new era for India.

Lessons from America

Trump’s second-term agenda, which envisions a ‘Golden Age of America’, aligns with a structured model similar to India’s reform-driven governance. While it would be premature to declare this as a deliberate replication of reforms recently implemented in India, Trump has directly addressed long-standing American issues with careful planning. His administration is taking decisive actions without hesitation—whether it involves laying off thousands of government employees or expelling illegal immigrants. These measures reflect administrative efficiency, national loyalty, and strategic planning.

At first glance, such decisions may seem abrupt, but they are intended to transform the nation fundamentally. Whether these decisions prove successful in the long run remains to be seen. Nonetheless, the attempt is commendable and deserves recognition from an American standpoint.

America is making an aggressive effort to eliminate the issue of illegal immigration once and for all. Why shouldn’t India, which is burdened with over 50 million illegal immigrants, take similar action? Some experts argue that comparing America and India on such policy matters is not entirely logical. It is true that the two nations differ in terms of social structures, ideological outlooks, population diversity, religious dynamics, global standing, and economic conditions. However, many thoughtful Indian citizens believe that the speed and efficiency of decision-making and implementation should be a priority for the Indian government.

Elon Musk, a figure who has revolutionised the technology sector, is now set to bring about a similar transformation in American politics. Every revolution faces stiff opposition. When a visionary leader initiates change, resistance arises due to fear and insecurity about the unknown. Musk himself has faced scepticism throughout his career, only to prove his critics wrong. His unconventional business approach is now set to shape American governance.

If India follows a similar trajectory by boldly declaring itself a ‘Sanatan Rashtra’ it may well surpass America, ushering in its own golden era.
