Kolhapur – Near the Khardekar guava orchard in the old Budhwar Peth area of Kolhapur, there once stood a temple with large paduka and a Shivaling. This temple suddenly disappeared without a trace. Correspondence with the Municipal Corporation regarding this matter elicited a response that stated, “We have no information about it.” A memorandum demanding an investigation into the disappearance of the temple and registration of a criminal offence against those responsible was submitted by Sushil Bhandigare of the Injustice Redressal Committee to the Police Inspector Shriram Kanekar at Laxmipuri Police Station. Copies of this memorandum were also submitted in person to the Kolhapur District Collector’s office and the Kolhapur Archaeology Department, while the Archaeological Survey of India in Mumbai was contacted via email.

The memorandum states that the temple has disappeared in the past six months, leaving no trace behind. This incident has hurt the sentiments of countless Hindus. If ancient temples continue to disappear in this manner, the history of Kolhapur itself will be erased. Therefore, the matter should be thoroughly investigated, and an offence should be registered immediately, followed by strict action. Anil Patil, Dheeraj Rukde, Shashikant Haldkar, Ranjit Shinde, Vijay Naik, Viraj Patil, and others were also present at this time.
