Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrator woman becomes Sarpanch in Bengal

Case filed in the Calcutta High Court

Lovely Khatun, sarpanch of Rashidabad gram panchayat in Bengal

Kolkata, West Bengal – The citizenship of Lovely Khatun, Sarpanch of the Trinamool Congress-led Rashidabad Gram Panchayat in Malda District, has come under scrutiny. Allegations suggest that Lovely Khatun, whose real name is Nasiya Sheikh, is a Bangladeshi infiltrator who entered India without a valid passport. The Calcutta High Court has demanded a report on this from the administration.

1. Rehana Sultana, a resident of Chanchal and a candidate in the 2022 Gram Panchayat elections, filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court in 2024. Rehana, who lost to Lovely Khatun, claims that Khatun joined the Trinamool Congress shortly after winning the elections.

2. Khatun reportedly obtained an Aadhaar card in 2015 and a birth certificate in 2018, both allegedly based on fake documents. The petitioner alleges evidence proving that Khatun changed her name, official records, and identity to conceal her status as a Bangladeshi infiltrator.

3. Rehana’s advocate, Bhaduri, stated that complaints were lodged with the local Police and administration, but no action was taken. As a result, they escalated the matter to the Calcutta High Court in 2024.

Editorial Perspective

This is shameful for the Trinamool Congress Government. If the Bangladeshi infiltrators are getting help from the Government itself, who would expel them ?
