More than 200 people have died in the last 2 years
Imphal (Manipur) – “The entire year has been very unfortunate for Manipur. Many have lost their loved ones. Many have left their homes. I am very saddened by this. I want to apologize. I apologize to the people of the State for everything that has been happening since May 3rd, 2023. Please forgive me,” said Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh, asking for forgiveness from the people. He was talking to the media at the secretariat here. Since May 3rd, 2023, violence has been going on between Christian Kuki terrorists and Hindu Meitei in Manipur.

Chief Minister Singh said that in the last 2 years, about 200 people have been killed. 625 accused have been arrested. About 5,600 weapons including explosives have been seized. There has also been some success in handling the issue. There has been peace in the State for the last one month.
There has been no incident of violence. Except for sporadic protests, people have not taken to the streets. Government offices are functioning every day and the number of children in schools is increasing.
