Ban on issuing birth certificates to Bangladeshi children

New Delhi – Schools in Delhi have been ordered to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrant children and mandated that birth certificates not be issued to such individuals. The MCD instructed all zones to take necessary steps to remove encroachments made by illegal Bangladeshi migrants.
These directives were discussed during a virtual meeting chaired by the principal secretary (Home), GNCTD, on 12th December, with the MCD Commissioner being represented by the additional commissioner and deputy commissioner.
Accordingly, as discussed during the VC meeting, respective concerned head of departments and zonal authorities of MCD were requested to take certain preventive measures.

“Education department to take appropriate preventive measures to identify illegal Bangladeshi Migrants while giving admission in Municipal Schools. It is also requested that proper identification & verification drive may also be undertaken to identify the illegal Bangladeshi migrant children in schools,” B P Bhardwaj deputy commissioner MCD said.
