On his arrival in Dhaka, Vikram Mistry personally met Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jasim Uddin, following which the delegations of the two countries held a formal meeting.
Bangladesh has been in political instability since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in August this year. India has expressed concern over incidents of attacks on minorities. Vikram Misri has visited Bangladesh in the backdrop of all these developments.
This is India’s first high-level visit to Bangladesh since the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Misri will also meet Bangladesh’s interim government chief Mohammad Yunus as a courtesy.
Editorial PerspectiveIt is clear that talks will not achieve anything because the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are state sponsored. So India has to strive beyond this to protect Hindus. Is India prepared for this, is the question ! |
