Chinese government policy adviser Zheng Yongnian’s warning!
Beijing, China – Chinese government policy adviser Zheng Yongnian has warned that U.S. President- elect Donald Trump’s proposal to restructure government departments, including the creation of a new Department of Government Efficiency headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, could pose a significant challenge to China. Yongnian emphasized that this initiative could force China to compete with a more efficient American political system. Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, and Vivek Ramaswamy, a prominent Indian-origin entrepreneur, are expected to lead the proposed department aimed at streamlining governance and boosting productivity. Zheng Yongnian, who also serves as the dean of the School of Public Policy at the University of Hong Kong’s Shanghai campus, highlighted the potential impact of such reforms on China’s ability to maintain its competitive edge.
China’s annual exports could face mounting pressure! – Zheng Yongnian
Zheng Yongnian, a prominent Chinese policy adviser, has warned that proposed reforms in the U.S. government under President-elect Donald Trump could exert significant pressure on China. According to Zheng, Trump’s efforts to create a more competitive and efficient governance model—described as a form of “state capitalism”—could pose a serious challenge to China’s economic and political standing.
Zheng highlighted that a potential 60% increase in U.S. taxes during Trump’s second term could directly impact China’s annual exports. He also noted Trump’s historically tough stance on China, which is expected to continue, particularly on contentious issues such as Taiwan and the South China Sea. While Trump is unlikely to pursue war with China, given its rapidly advancing defence capabilities, Zheng predicted that tensions would escalate in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea. The Chinese government, he advised, must demonstrate a robust strategy to address the challenges posed by Trump’s policies, particularly as the U.S. intensifies its economic and geopolitical competition.
