Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh) – On 30th October, ahead of Diwali, Hindu spiritual leader Bageshwar Dham Sarkar (also known as Dhirendra Krishna Shastri) slammed all those who called to avoid bursting of firecrackers during the Hindu festivals. He said that people have gotten used to the habit of blaming Hindu festivals for pollution.
He further said, “During Diwali, they say that bursting firecrackers leads to air pollution. During Holi, they show bogus concern for water wastage. But these people forget to teach the same lesson during New Year. Why this bias and hatred towards Hindu festivals ? It is so wrong that whenever festivals of Sanatan Hindu Dharma come, authorities talk about violation of law. I want to tell them that Bakri-Eid is also celebrated in this country, stop it. Goats worth lakhs of Rupees are sacrificed on Bakri-Eid. Instead, distribute this money among the poor – they will benefit. Along with this, violence against animals will also be prevented”.
Hypocrisy towards Hindu festivals should stop. I will celebrate Diwali with enthusiasm, I have bought firecrackers too.
Many States have banned lighting of firecrackers during Diwali
Keeping the pollution in mind, several States have imposed a ban on firecrackers during Diwali this time. These States include Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Tamil Nadu. However, only ‘green crackers’ are allowed for a limited time, which are considered helpful in reducing pollution.
