Karnataka Waqf Board claims 1,200 acres of farmer’s land in a village

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Karnataka Waqf Board has laid its claim on the Honwada village in Tikota Tehsil present in Vijayapura district in the state. Shah Ameenuddin dargah has claimed 1,200 acres of land here. After this the Congress government has sent notices to 41 farmers. Farmers from the village have complained about this to state minister M.B. Patil regarding this. BJP has criticised the Congress government on this issue.

Vice president of Hinwada Grampanchayat Sunil Shankarappa Tudeegal said that, it is mentioned in the notice that this land belongs to Shah Ameenuddin Dargah; but this dargah did not exist for centuries together, while our family’s land is been there for generation after generation. We will protest if the government does not retract the notice.

Karnataka minister M. B. Patil assured the farmers that ‘ except the land belonging to WAQF, other land will not be taken.’

Editorial Perspective

Waqf Act is more sinister than the Mughal jiziya tax. To repeal the law at its earliest is the only right solution for this. It is imperative that the Union government takes such a bold step ! Entire Hindu society will stand behind the government.
