Dissolve the Kejriwal Government and impose President’s Rule in Delhi : BJP

BJP delegation with President Murmu

New Delhi – The BJP delegation met the President Draupadi Murmu, demanding the dissolution of the Kejriwal Government and the implementation of President’s Rule in Delhi. The BJP argued that a ‘constitutional crisis’ has arisen in the State, as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been in jail for nearly 6 months in connection with the liquor scam.

On August 30th, BJP MLAs, led by the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta, met the President Draupadi Murmu and submitted a formal statement. Although this meeting took place on August 30th, the details have only recently come to light. The President’s Secretariat has forwarded the BJP’s statement to the Union Home Secretary, emphasising the need to address the ongoing ‘constitutional crisis’ in Delhi. The BJP’s statement also highlights concerns about the governance system in Delhi, financial irregularities, and the deteriorating condition of the people. The party claims that the administrative system has completely collapsed.

Editorial Perspective

For the Chief Minister of an important State to remain in jail for nearly 6 months, while still holding office, is a mockery of democracy. If the Chief Minister is unavailable to address the problems of the people, it represents the ultimate failure of democracy.
