Washington, US – We cannot test every 5 minutes whether India trusts us, said former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia and Ukraine in the last 2 months. After Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia, there was talk of deteriorating relations between India and America. Against that backdrop, Condoleezza Rice made the above statement. Rice dismissed the notion that the US should impose a “loyalty test” on India with respect to its international relations. “Countries wish to, as India says, have strategic autonomy and I have no problem with that. But it is our (US and India’s) deep interests that will ultimately lead to a stronger partnership,” she stated.
America’s George W. Rice was instrumental in advancing the civil nuclear deal between India and the US during the Bush administration. Rice added that India and the US have a strong, bilateral and long-standing relationship in the defense sector. Anyone who comes to the ‘White House’ in America realizes the importance of these relationships.
