Headmaster expels a Muslim student for bringing non-veg biryani in his lunchbox
Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) – “Your son brings meat in the lunchbox and says that he would convert others to Islam. I cannot teach such students, who would grow up to destroy our temples. You people teach these things to your children,” told Avnish Sharma, headmaster of a renowned school in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, to the mother of a 7-year-old Muslim student. A boy was expelled from the school for bringing non-vegetarian biryani in the lunchbox. When the mother went to meet the headmaster, there was an argument between the two. A video of this interaction has been circulated on social media.

The boy’s mother denied all the allegations. She denied that non-vegetarian biryani was served in the lunchbox. She said that for the past few months, other children in the class have been referring to him as a Muslim. The mother also said that few students had a fight with her son. Headmaster Sharma then asked the boy’s mother to leave, and warned her to call the security guards and the Police.
Objection has been registered by Muslims on this matter. Amroha Deputy Collector Sudhir Kumar directed the District Inspector and Education Officer to investigate. A committee of 3 members has been formed for this purpose.
Editorial PerspectiveWhat is wrong if the headmaster expels those who have the mindset of bringing non-vegetarian food in their lunchbox ? This shows his commitment to maintaining sanctity of the school. |
