Indore (Madhya Pradesh) – “As a responsible citizen of India, I consider it my duty to provide information about the horrific partition of united India in the year 1947 and the factors responsible for it. The Hindus of Bangladesh are suffering from the same hardships that Hindus have endured during that period. We can see and experience this in the horrific videos of looting, rape, inhuman beatings, murders and burnings of Hindus there. There are striking similarities between the atrocities committed against Hindus in India before and during partition and today. We should never forget the history. Otherwise it is repeated. In this view, it is the religious duty of all of us to perform tarpan rituals for the crores of Hindus who have sacrificed their lives to protect Dharma over the past 1,400 years,” said Meenakshi Sharan, President of Ayodhya Foundation. She has appealed to Hindus around the world to observe August 15th as ‘Shraddha Sankalp Divas’.

“This is the eighth year of this campaign and August 15, 2024 will be the eighth ‘Shraddha Sankalp Divas’. Let us resolve for the millions of Hindus who have fought and died during difficult times in the past 1,400 years, but have not renounced Hindu Dharma. Also, on October 2, the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya, let us perform collective tarpan. Take the holy water of river Ganga and akshata in the hands and perform Tarpan ritual,” added Meenakshi Sharan.

For this purpose, various videos and posts are being broadcast through social media. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has also appealed to Hindus to participate in the campaign. Ayodhya Foundation is using the hashtags #Shraddh_SankalpDiwas, #SamoohikTarpan, #ShraddhSankalpDiwas, #SamoohikTarpan to promote the campaign. The organisation has also appealed to Hindus to reach out to as many people as possible through this medium.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Hindus have been subjected to unprecedented atrocities over many centuries in the past. This is an opportunity to inform today’s global community about it and to express our gratitude to our ancestors for the survival of our Hindu identity. Hindus should participate in this campaign in crores and give it the form of a mass movement.
  • Thanks and congratulations to Meenakshi Sharan for organising the mass tarpan ritual.
