Bangladesh slams Bengal CM

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahamud has said, “We respect Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of Bengal and have close relationship with her, however, her statement about Bangladesh is misleading. We have written to the Government of India in this regard”. Mamata Banerjee was speaking at a meeting in the wake of the violent incidents in Bangladesh over reservations. She had said, “Our doors are open for the aggrieved citizens of Bangladesh and if they ask for help, we will give shelter to them.” Bangladesh reacted on this statement by Mamata Banerjee.
After Bangladesh lodged an objection, the Governor of Bengal C.V. Anand Bose has sought a report from the State Government on Mamata Banerjee’s statement. The Raj Bhavan has notified in a statement that the language of sheltering people coming from abroad is serious, it indicates violation of the Constitution.
