Kabul (Afghanistan) – The ruling Taliban has refused to accept Pakistan’s claim over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In 3 decades, Taliban has assessed Afghanistan borders for the first time. The Border and Tribal Affairs Ministry of Afghanistan has said that they have assessed the official borders of Pakistan, Tajikistan, Jammu-Kashmir and China. Interestingly, Taliban Ministry has not mentioned PoK for Jammu-Kashmir in the statement. This means that Taliban does not recognise Pakistan’s claim over PoK.

👉 #Taliban responds appropriately, it should now also assist India, in pressuring #Pakistan to return the occupied #Kashmir to India.#Afghanistan pic.twitter.com/iMG57XYVBY

The decision of Taliban will directly connect Afghanistan’s border to India’s Jammu-Kashmir region. This will enable both the countries to establish neighbourly relations. India has the same official stand on this issue. India considers Afghanistan as its neighbour through Kashmir.
Editorial Perspective
A good decision by Taliban. Now they should also pressurise Pakistan to return the PoK to India. |
