Ottawa (Canada) – Relations between India and Canada have not been good since the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada’s intelligence chief David Vigneault had secretly visited India in February and March this year amid tensions between India and Canada. Canadian officials said that the purpose of David Vigneault’s visit was to brief the Indian authorities on the case related to Nijjar’s murder.
The head of the intelligence agency of Canada briefed the Indian authorities on Canada’s investigation into Nijjar’s murder. However, he refused to give information about the officials’ discussion during his visit to India.
On 18th June 2023, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia. Police have arrested 4 Indian nationals in connection with Nijjar’s murder.
