No candidature to Muslims in the next elections, says Mayawati
New Delhi – “Despite giving appropriate representation to the Muslim community, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) did not benefit in the elections. Muslims did not vote for us. I have always given them tickets. It was my own caste members who voted for our party. Therefore, from now on, the party will carefully consider giving Muslims a chance in elections to avoid significant future losses,” stated BSP President Mayawati holding Muslims responsible for her party’s defeat. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BSP won 10 seats; but in the 2024 elections, none of the party candidates succeeded. In this election, Mayawati broke all previous records of giving tickets to Muslim candidates. The BSP had given tickets to 23 Muslims and 15 Brahmins in Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BSP had fielded 6 Muslim candidates.
Mayawati further stated that the entire country’s attention was on Uttar Pradesh in this election, and the results are in front of the public now. Our party will take this seriously, conduct in-depth analysis at every level, and take necessary steps in the interest of the party.
