Ahmedabad (Gujarat) – Religious fanatics attacked Prerna Peeth Nishkalanki Temple in Gujarat and vandalised the idols of Deities. A video of the attack on this temple at Pirana has become viral on social media. Most of the attackers are seen wearing round Muslim caps and using sticks for the attack. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has stated that the attack was pre-planned.

There is a long pending dispute about the place. Muslims claim the place as their dargah, while Hindus claim that it was originally a temple. A rumour was spread about the removal of a few graves from the area; therefore, the local Muslims gathered at the site carrying sticks and iron rods and attacked the temple. Its video has been made viral on VHP’s official Instagram account.
Details of the issue
The matter is sub judice. In 2022, Imam Shah Dargah Trust filed a petition in the High Court stating that though it is Hindus’ original religious place, it is managed by ‘Satpanthi’. ‘Satpanth’ is a Muslim Sect.
Imam Shah Trust has stated in its affidavit that there are 600-year-old mosques, dargahs and temples at Pirana. It would not be appropriate to say that it was originally a Muslim institution or a Hindu religious place. Hindus as well as Muslims are on the Board of Trustees.
