Nashik – Maharashtra Chief of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, Dharma Samaj’ (All India Saint Committee, Dharma Samaj) and Mahant Peethadhishwar Dr Aniket Shastri Maharaj, faced a harrowing ordeal on the night of 3rd April, when he was attacked by a group of 900 to 1,000 religious fanatics near the Nashik highway around 1 a.m. The attackers targeted his car, shattering its windows. Subsequently, a case has been lodged at the local Police station regarding this egregious incident, and Maharaj has appealed to the State Government for Police protection. Recalling the tragic events of 2020 when two Sadhus were brutally attacked and killed in Palghar, Maharaj voiced his apprehension that this recent assault resembled that horrific massacre. The assailants not only targeted Maharaj but also wreaked havoc on other vehicles passing by, vandalising them indiscriminately. Maharaj’s vehicle bore the brunt of the aggression, being kicked, and struck with sticks. It was only through quick thinking and manoeuvring that Maharaj and his companions managed to escape the assault by navigating their car through a narrow alleyway.
This marks the fourth attack he has endured thus far. Previously, unidentified individuals hurled stones at his Ashram, targeted the cow shed with liquor bottles, and repeatedly pelted his car with stones.
If the Government is unable to protect Hindu Dharmagurus, then the Hindus must protect them – Ranjit Savarkar, Grandson of Swatantryaveer Savarkar and Chairman of Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya SmarakI condemn the attack on Dr Aniket Shastri Maharaj. Frequent attacks on Hindu Dharmagurus in Hindu-majority areas are painful. It is imperative for the Government to take decisive action in this regard and break this mentality. Hindu community has not forgotten that the culprits have not been punished in the Palghar case. If the Government is unable to protect the Hindus Dharmagurus, it falls upon the Hindus itself to ensure the protection of Hindu Dharma and its Dharmagurus. |
