Kolkata – ‘As someone from the legal profession, I must try and understand the other side of the story. I must read his (Nathuram Godse) writings and understand what triggered him to kill M Gandhi. Until then, I cannot choose between Gandhi and Godse’, Abhijit Gangopadhyay, former Calcutta High Court judge and BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate, said in an interview to a news channel recently. The Congress has strongly objected to this statement and has demanded from the BJP to withdraw Gangopadhyay’s Lok Sabha candidature.

(There is no obligation on any citizen of this country to preserve Gandhi’s legacy. Everyone has freedom of expression ! – Editor) Therefore, his candidature should be withdrawn immediately. What will the Father of the Do-nation do to protect the Father of the Nation ?’

Editorial Perspectives

  • Why doesn’t Congress utter a word about their leader Digvijay Singh who called Osama Bin Laden ‘Ladenji’, and Sonia Gandhi who cried on the death of jihadi terrorists at Batla House in Delhi ?

  • Gandhi allowed the partition of India and forced Hindus who had returned to India due to partition out of deserted mosques during the cold winter. He was in a way responsible for the killing of 10 lakh Hindus during the partition, and also staged a hunger strike to give Pakistan, who invaded Kashmir, its share of ₹55 crore (today’s value ₹1,200 crore). How can anyone forget this history ?
