Incident at a Govt School in Bagalkot (Karnataka)

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – A 14-year-old schoolgirl was accused of theft and stripped naked to check. She got traumatised and committed suicide. This incident took place at a Government School in Bagalkot. Four schoolgirls were called to investigate, as, Rs 2,000 were stolen from a teacher’s purse. Their school dress was stripped to checking, later, they were taken to a temple and told to swear by God and say that they had not committed theft. A 14-year-old girl was shocked, and she committed suicide. Bagalkot Superintendent of Police, Amarnath Reddy gave this information. The girl’s parents said that their daughter was extremely sensitive, and she hadn’t spoken to anyone for last 2 days.

Stringent action must be taken against school management for such inhuman way of checking. If a school is not sensitised about the sensitive minds of children, it is unimaginable to even understand how they are moulding these little children in their care.
