Union Government’s welcome decision ! Action must be taken against a total of 700 OTT apps – Uday Mahurkar

Former Information Commissioner of Union Government and Chairman of ‘Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation’ Mr Uday Mahurkar has been fighting for this cause. Talking to the representative of ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ in this regard, he said, “I welcome this decision of the Government. There is no doubt that India will become a great country by 2047. I say that India will become an economic, military and scientific superpower before 2037; but the crisis of becoming a culturally poor country has come upon us. Obscene programmes are being broadcast day and night on OTT platforms. According to our research, there are 700 such OTT apps today and at least 30 movies are being streamed on them every day.

Adultery is being shown in them. These films are mainly made in the city of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. India’s dream of becoming a ‘Vishwa Guru’ should not be crushed by this cultural invasion. The ‘Save Culture-Save Bharat Foundation’ has been fighting against this for the last 14 months. The organisations ‘James of Bollywood’ and ‘Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’ are also helping us in this. India is making unprecedented progress under the leadership of PM Modi and this action against OTT apps is the first step. I hope this nationalist Government will continue to do this.

Action should also be taken on major OTT platforms – Swati Goel Sharma

Swati Goel Sharma

Talking to Sanatan Prabhat representative, Swati Goel Sharma of ‘Gems of Bollywood’ organisation said that this is a very important step taken by the Union Government. The scope of this action should be further increased. This action has been taken mainly on small OTT platforms. We hope that the action is also taken against the major OTT platforms in a similar manner, so that they do not get incentives. Our country is based on Sanatan Dharma. There is no place for such vulgarity. We wanted to highlight this point. Today we are satisfied that this has become a social issue. Seminars have also started to be held on this.

Let obscenity be banned and seeds of virtues be planted – Ramesh Shinde, National Spokesperson, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Ramesh Shinde

Obscenity spreading through OTT platforms and other media is a threat to the future of the country. Therefore, the notification and decision taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ban OTT platforms, websites and apps that spread obscenity is highly commendable. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti was constantly following up with the Union Government about this. In February 2024, a programme was also held on behalf of ‘Gems of Bollywood’, ‘Save Culture-Save Bharat Foundation’, ‘Seva Nyay Utthan’ and ‘Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’ to ban obscenity and immorality on obscene OTT platforms. For the glorious future of the country, efforts should be made to inculcate culture to the school-going students along with banning media that is broadcasting obscenity. India gives the world not vulgarity, but good virtues. This is the identity of India.

Editorial Perspective

Government should not only ban them, but those who operate them should be booked and imprisoned to create a deterred effect.
