Beijing (China) – Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated the newly elected President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. He said that the iron-clad friendship between China and Pakistan is a choice of history. The world is going through rapid changes which have never been seen before. In such a situation, the strategic significance of Sino-Pakistan ties has become more prominent.

Jinping added,

1. China and Pakistan are good neighbours, good friends, good partners and good brothers. The incomparable friendship between the two countries is a treasure of history.

2. We greatly respect the strength of China-Pakistan relations. We look forward to deepening this friendship, increasing practical cooperation in various fields, further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and ushering in a new era.

3. The two countries have held high-level talks since the end of the year. They have supported each other on terms related to their core interests and major concerns, including the construction of the ‘China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’ (CPEC).

India has always objected to CPEC, which connects China’s Xinjiang province and Pakistan’s Gwadar port in the Balochistan province. The reason for this is that the project will pass through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Editorial Perspective

The Chinese dragon is circling India through Pakistan, Nepal and Maldives. India should speed up the ongoing efforts at various levels to check this notorious gangster of Asia.
