Washington DC (USA) – A survey conducted by the Pew Research Center has revealed that the Muslim population in the US has doubled. This survey was carried out as part of the Religious Landscape Study. According to the findings, religious belief in the US had declined in recent years but has stabilised since 2020.
1. In 2007, Muslims constituted 0.4% of the US population. This figure rose to 0.9% in 2014 and further increased to 1.2% in 2023-24. This means that over the past 16-17 years, the Muslim population in the US has doubled.
2. A significant portion of the US population does not adhere to any religion. These individuals are referred to as ‘Nones’, meaning atheists or those without religious affiliation. They make up 29% of the US population.
3. The global population is currently estimated to be around 800 crores. Of this, approximately 200 crore people follow Islam or Christianity. Among them, the Muslim population is estimated to be around 150 crores.
