2. As per the party statute, the Mahasaminti meeting should convene every year but the Congress, citing various reasons, has been deferring it ever since the 14th general convention that was held in December 2021. November 2023 saw huge demonstrations in Nepal for the restoration of Nepal as a Hindu Rashtra. According to an article in the ‘Kathmandu Post’, the support for Former King Gyanendra Shah is increasing among the people. Hence, many political parties are supporting the restoration of Nepal as a Hindu Rashtra, such that they may benefit and increase their vote bank.
