Dhaka (Bangladesh) – India and Bangladesh were declared joint winners of ‘South Asian Football Federation’s under-19 Women’s Football Championship’. Both teams scored one goal each. Then the penalty shoot-out between them also resulted in a draw. Finally, it was agreed to declare the winner through the toss of a coin. India won the toss and was declared the winner. The Bangladesh players put up a huge opposition to this declaration. The audience in the stadium too broke out in a violent outburst against the decision. A large audience was seen throwing bottles into the football field inside the stadium. Some even threw stones onto the field. Chaos broke out in the stadium. Hence, both the countries were declared joint winners of the championship.

The match was played in Bangladesh. As the situation was going out of control, the officials of the federation had to change their decision. They cancelled the decision taken by tossing of the coin, and declared both India and Bangladesh as joint winners of the match.

Editorial Perspective

The religious fanatic attitude of the citizens and players of Bangladesh, Bharat’s friendly country, is apparent in this incident. The Indian Government should teach them a lesson.
