Mauritius declares a 2-hour leave to watch the consecration ceremony of Shriram Lalla

Port Louis – A special leave of 2 hours has been declared in Mauritius on 22 nd January for the consecration ceremony of Shriram Lalla’s idol. Hindus working in Mauritius will be able to watch the live telecast of the consecration ceremony and rituals during this span of 2 hours. The Hindus of Mauritius have expressed their happiness towards the Government of Mauritius for this decision. Thanks to this decision, they will get a chance to witness the crucial moments of the consecration ceremony.

Hindu organisations in Mauritius had demanded a special leave for 2 hours on 22 nd January to the Government. An estimated 48.5% of the population in Mauritius is Hindu. Mauritius is the only country in the African continent with a majority of its population practicing Hindu Dharma. After India and Nepal, Mauritius has the highest number of Hindus.
