Congress calls Shriram temple inauguration a BJP, RSS project

New Delhi – Top Congress leaders have declined the invitation to attend Ayodhya’s Shriram temple on 22nd January. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh released a statement clarifying the position of the party. It says that religion is a personal thing; but the Rashriya Swayamsewak Sangh and the BJP have long turned the Ayodhya temple into a political project. The inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has been obviously brought forward for electoral gain. While abiding by the 2019 Supreme Court judgment and honouring the sentiments of millions who revere Shriram, Mr Mallikarjun Kharge, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Mr Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have respectfully declined the invitation to what is clearly an BJP, RSS event.

It is well known that the Congress opposed the construction of Shriram temple, which they are now calling a BJP, RSS project. How would the Congress leaders who did not want the Shriram temple, attend its inauguration ? |
