Beijing (China) – China is currently unsettled by the joint naval exercises being conducted by the Indian and Philippine navies in the South China Sea. China has released a statement saying that both countries should take care of the sovereignty of the third country and take steps to ensure that they do not disturb regional peace.
The navies of the Philippines and China frequently face off in parts of the disputed South China Sea. Just earlier this month, the Philippine Navy alleged that Chinese ships fired water cannons at its ships. Without naming any country, China said that the maritime dispute between China and the Philippines is a matter between the two countries. China will take necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty, security and maritime rights. Despite China’s warnings the Philippines continues to send its warships into areas claimed by China, where one such vessel collided with a Chinese Coast Guard Vessel and the Chinese vessel sustained damages. A dispute arose after this incident.
