US indictment in Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s case softened India’s tone : Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mocks India

Ottawa (Canada) – “Relations between India and Canada may have undergone a ‘total shift’, following the indictment of Indian officials in the US for plotting an assassination attempt on Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. There’s an understanding that just churning out attacks against Canada isn’t going to make this problem go away. The US indictment appears to have convinced the Indian Government to adopt a more sober tone”, said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mocking India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier spoken for the first time in the case of conspiracy to kill terrorist Pannun and said ‘no incident can affect US-India relations’. Trudeau referred to that and made the above statements.

Trudeau added,

The US indictment in the Pannun case has led to Indian agencies cooperating in the investigation. We hope that Canada will also get similar cooperation from India in the investigation of the Nijjar murder case. So that the culprits in this case could be punished. (Trudeau should first arrest and punish the Khalistanis who attacked Indian embassies, Hindu temples etc. and then speak about Nijjar’s murder ! – Editor)

We don’t want to be in a situation of fighting with India right now over this. We want to be working on that trade deal. (To improve relations one has to act on those lines continuously – Editor). We want to be advancing the Indo-Pacific strategy; but it is foundational for Canada to stand up for people’s rights, for people’s safety and the rule of law and that’s what we’re going to do. (Trudeau cannot treat both, the rights of the Canadian citizens and the rights of the anti-India Khalistani terrorists, in the same manner. If he must support the Khalistanis, he must always remember that Canada-India relations will never improve ! – Editor).

Editorial Perspective

India needs to respond to Trudeau that instead of mocking India, he better take action against the Khalistanis involved in anti-India activities on Canadian soil.
