The Prime Minister should answer regarding the security of the Parliament : Congress Party

Opposition Party’s protest march in Delhi

New Delhi – Opposition parties are playing politics based on the attack on the Parliament. Opposition MPs held a foot march from Old Parliament to Vijay Chowk on December 21st to protest against the attack. On this occasion, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah should come to the Parliament and answer regarding the security system of the Parliament. The Congress said that the MPs of the INDI Alliance have decided to protest at the Jantar Mantar on 22nd December against the suspension of the opposition MPs.

Kharge added that the Prime Minister went to Varanasi and Karnavati (Ahmedabad). The Hon. Prime Minister gives speeches everywhere in the political rallies, but the topic of security of the Parliament is never spoken about. Home Minister Amit Shah too has not said anything about the security of the Parliament. We condemn it. The Government does not want to allow the work of the House to continue. The voice of the opposition is being suppressed. It is our right to speak in Parliament.

Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati said that suspension of opposition MPs from Parliament is not right. However, the imitation of Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhad is also unfortunate.

The number of suspended MPs has increased to 143 !

On the other hand, 2 more MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha on 20th December due to the uproar by the opposition on the issue of security breaches in Parliament. Therefore, the number of suspended MPs has increased to 143. Out of them, 109 belong to Lok Sabha and 34 belong to Rajya Sabha. On 21st December, there was a commotion in both houses of Parliament. During Question Hour, some opposition MPs were seen shouting slogans.

Editorial Perspective

Although the Government is expected to make an official statement on the security breach of the Parliament at the earliest, the ruckus in the Parliament created by the MPs of the opposition parties is objectionable. It is equally true that the public will not forget such people’s representatives who waste the precious time of the Parliament and the tax money of the people this way.
