Trustees emphasise in the ‘Appropriate temple management’ seminar

Ozar, 3rd December – “Trustees of the temples should leave aside their title and serve the Deity as an ordinary devotee. If they manage the temple as a ‘devotee’, then temple’s popularity would spread far and wide. The temple management should keep in mind the interest of Dharma, devotees and Deity”, expressed the dignitaries present at the seminar titled ‘Appropriate temple management’. The seminar was organised in the ‘Maharashtra Mandir Nyas Parishad’ on 2nd December. Former Charity Commissioner Mr Dilip Deshmukh, Trustee of Shri Mangalgraha Mandir at Amalner Mr Digambar Mahale, Trustee of Vighnahar Ganapati Temple at Ozar Mr Ashok Ghegade, Sanatan Sanstha’s Dharmapracharak Sadguru Nandkumar Jadhav participated in the seminar. The seminar was moderated by Mr Anand Jakhotia, Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

Mr Digambar Mahale added, “Temple priests and devotees are the soul of a temple. Due to the Dharmik attitude of priests, the devotees can experience the divinity. Divine experience of the devotees depends on the interest shown by the priests and how well they explain about the rituals etc. Hence, the role of priests is crucial. Temple trustees should put their ego aside and work. Temple priests and the trustees should avoid disputes. Keeping aside their title, the trustees should treat the devotees with humility. Trustees should observe cleanliness, modesty and transparency. This would give the devotees an experience of self while visiting the temple”.

Sadguru Nandkumar Jadhav said, “Devotees visit the temple to experience the self. Temple trustees should think of the convenience of the devotees. Trustees should take care that the devotees’ feet do not get burnt during summer. Devotees visiting the temple should experience satisfaction”.

Mr Ashok Ghegade said, “Temple trustees should behave like an ordinary devotee, mix with other devotees and try to understand the opinion of them about temple management. This will help them get genuine feedback. Temple funds should not be used for development work, but for the cleanliness of temple premises”.

“Temple trustees should stand in the queue like ordinary devotees and have darshan of the Deity once in a while. This will help them understand the trouble faced by the ordinary devotees. Direct darshan should be facilitated for the elderly, pregnant women, newly married couples etc.”
