Enlightening thoughts from the’World Hindu Congress’organised to revive Hindus

Political continuity is necessary for the survival of Hindu Dharma – Rashmi Samant, a devout Hindu and Youth leader

Bangkok (Thailand) – Rashmi Samant, who had to resign as the President of ‘Student Union’ at Oxford University for being a Hindu, was also present at the ‘World Hindu Congress’. Samant, a youth leader, said on this occasion, “The Hindu community has over 1.2 billion population across 190 different countries. We form the top 10% reputed class of every society that we are a part of, meaning we effectively contribute to the national interest. We contribute greatly to the economy, education and other sectors of the country we live in. Political continuity is necessary for the survival of Hindu Dharma”.

Samant further said,

1.We have a towering contribution in history as well, not only in the freedom struggle of India, but also against the injustice towards blacks in South Africa or in the freedom struggle of Sri Lanka. However, the very Hindus who made these countries were sidelined later. From Malaysia to Fiji and from Trinidad to Guyana, the list of countries is quite long. The political retreat in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh is the most heartbreaking. The plight of Hindus in these countries shows what happens if we retreat politically.

2.We have incredibly talented Hindus everywhere in the world and despite an ecosystem many of them have come up to the highest positions of power. However, once their political era ends, everything fizzles out and for long spells we do not have any political representation and with that the state of our community goes up for a toss. That is why having a political ecosystem is very important.

Politics is inevitable for Hindus ! – Rashmi Samant

Apathy towards politics among Hindus is common and has happened to the best of Hindus. Even Arjun in Mahabharat was no exception. In the battle of Kurukshetra, he was on the verge of giving up the arms in the battlefield, thinking that the entire political space was irrelevant and was disillusioned like we are today. It took the entire Bhagawadgeeta and Shrikrishna to awaken Arjun and bring him out of his illusion. In the end, Arjun realised and said that we need to do away with our disillusion that politics is irrelevant.

Only if we follow our ancient culture, will the future be bright – Meenakshi Sharan, a devout Hindu

“Hindus should not fall for the false narratives calling our rituals and practices as ills. There is no inequality in Hindu Dharma. Hindus worship everything from Brahma to a blade of grass. Women are worshipped as a form of Shakti.

The social ills like dowry that have crept into our society, need to be eradicated. Only if we follow our ancient culture, will the future be bright”, said Meenakshi Sharan, founder of ‘Ayodhya Foundation’, while speaking at a seminar in ‘World Hindu Congress’.
