Murshidabad (Bengal) – Protests by Muslims against the Waqf Reform Act have been ongoing across the country for the past few days. Against this backdrop, on Friday, April 11, after the afternoon namaz, large-scale violence broke out in Murshidabad. Even by April 12, the situation had not been brought under control.
On this day, religiously fanatical Muslims brutally murdered a Hindu father and his son in the Jafrabad area. The victims were identified as Hargovind Das and Chandan Das, who were engaged in the profession of crafting idols of Hindu deities. Just three days prior, a large-scale violent protest by Muslims had occurred in the same area, during which police vehicles were torched. A similar incident unfolded again. So far, the police have arrested 115 Muslims in connection with the violence.

“The Waqf Act will not be implemented in the state, so remain calm” – Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appeals to Muslims![]() Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed the Muslim protestors, assuring them that the Waqf Act would not be implemented in West Bengal. “The Act has been enacted by the central government, so if you have any grievances, take them to the Centre,” she said. “I urge you to remain calm. Every life is precious. Do not incite riots for political gain.” (Instead of issuing such appeals, why is no action being taken against the radical Muslim rioters? Are they somehow above the law ? – Editor) |
