Lakshmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh) – The Uttar Pradesh Police have launched a campaign against loudspeakers atop religious structures. A large number of loudspeakers have been removed from lots of mosques. The above action was taken after it was found that a large number of these loudspeakers violated the permissible decibel level. Hundreds of loudspeakers have been seized.
The campaign was launched on 27th November at 5 a.m. Mosques in violation of these codes including Takiyawali Masjid in Lakshmanpuri, were cordoned off. In this way, action was also taken in Districts like Kanpur, Hamipur, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya etc. The Magistrate was also present during this action.
In the District of Pratapgarh, more than 350 mosques were illegally fenced. Due to this, the Police have registered a case against the concerned. In the District of Kaushambi, loudspeakers from more than 203 places were removed. It was also revealed that electricity was being stolen by some of these mosques. The action was taken at over 46 places in Farooqabad District. Along with this, action was also taken in the districts of Lalitpur, Kannauj, Fatehpur and Aureya.
In some Districts, the Superintendent of Police held meetings with Muslim religious leaders and they were asked to conform to Government rules. Actions were taken against violators in some temples and monasteries along with mosques.
